The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI was up 41.43 points, or 0.23 percent, at 18,436.83, the S&P 500 .SPX was up 3.92 points, or 0.18 percent, at 2,172.96 and the Nasdaq composite .IXIC was up 7.73 points, or 0.15 percent, at 5,226.65.
