IRI asks Ankara, Damascus to keep self-restraint

IRI Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi on Saturday called on both Syria and Turkey to observe self-restraint and calm to settle dispute over downing of Turkish military plane in Syrian territorial waters. In a phone call with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu on Saturday, Salehi hoped that the issue would be solved in light of prudence and dialogue. He hoped that peace and stability would be maintained in the region in light of peaceful settlement of the issue. Syria shooted down a Turkish plane over the Mediterranean Sea Saturday. The Syrian military said the plane was flying low, less than a mile from the shore and well inside the country's territorial waters when they opened fire on it.
