7 killed in candle factory fire in India

The fire broke out inside a candle-making factory late Friday afternoon in Pimpri Chinchwad area of Pune district, about 140 km southeast of Mumbai, the capital city of Maharashtra, Xinhua reported.

The victims, the majority of whom were women, were identified as workers in the factory.

The combustible material inside the factory aggravated the fire and it took more than an hour for the firefighters to douse the blaze.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
